Kendra Funnies!

I have to write these things down before I forget. Hope they give you a smile:)

- Kendra says "Mom, let's go swimming" and I say, okay we could probably do that today. She says "Never mind, they don't even have swings there....what's the point?"

- Kendra and her dad went to the pet store but when they got there it was closed down and moved to a different location AGAIN. She came back and told me all about it. "Mommy, I'm so sick of this. It's just nonsense!!"

- Nick & Kendra were in the car and she wanted a treat. He said no:( She threw a fit and he told her she was acting like a little baby but Kendra informed him that she was acting like a kid. Nick thought that was a pretty good point so he asked "what am I acting like then?" Kendra says "you're acting just like Mommy!"

Halloween 2011

Halloween this year was so much fun. Kendra got to dress up a few times for different parties and LOVED being a "real" puppy! We also went to Staheli Family Farms with the Wild Whitts and the Holmies. The kids had a ball. They got to have a train ride, ride some swings, pet a few animals, ride a horse, do a maze and play - play - play!

I'm WAYYYY behind with my blogging so these next few posts will be a little dated.

On September 22, 2007 at approx 4pm, Miss Kendra made her grand entrance into the world. She was perfect and we instantly fell in love with her. She loves animals and swimming and especially loves life. She's a happy little girl who knows what she wants. She's full of personality and spunk and keeps us going every minute of the day. We love this little lady more than words can say and can't believe how fast she's growing.

This September she turned 4 and we celebrated with our family at the aquatic center. She's a little fish and was so happy to have her little cousins there with her. She was spoiled rotten with gifts and also told she would be a big sister in the spring! She told me it was the best birthday ever and has already started planning next years:) Wishing you the best fourth year of your life Miss Magoo!

So this is kinda old news but we're having a baby!! You might think that 3 tests are a bit over kill but Nick insisted....he was sure that because they only cost $1, they must be faulty:) We confirmed it one more time with a blood test and it was still hard to believe!

We've wanted another baby since Kendra was 18 months old but we're not very lucky in that department. Then we stopped trying because #1 - it's depressing and #2 - things are unstable right now. But then I started dreaming about a baby....my baby! 3 dreams in a month and I told Nick each time because they felt so real. I thought someone was telling us to try again but it turned out I was already pregnant. It was the best surprise EVER:)

We decided to tell our family at Kendra's birthday party. We wrapped this shirt up and the reaction was worth waiting 12 weeks! Our new little one should arrive in April 2012:)

1st day of Preschool

Kendra's first day of preschool was a huge success. She woke up, ran downstairs and yelled, "Daddy, it's Preschool Day!" She was in the best mood all morning. Ate her breakfast like a champ, got ready without whining, posed for some pictures and smiled the entire way to school. When we got there, she practically ran to the door. I helped get her settled and then gave her a love and told her she was gonna do great. For a brief second she got nervous about me leaving so Mrs. Clark took her by the hand and showed her some toys. She LOVES it and wants to go everyday!! Hopefully her attitude lasts all year:)

We had an awesome 4th! Rachel brought down her friend Meg & 2 kids. We did the Milford parade & park, then headed to the hills for tadpole & cricket hunting. The kids were loving it!

I could go on and on but mostly I just want to grab each and every person that came and supported Kristen and give them a big hug and say thanks. I know what a big sacrifice it is to not only donate your money but also your time. I'm amazed and really full of gratitude tonight. Good luck to Kristen and her cute little family and THANKS for letting us do this:)

I just had the best conversation with Kendra.

She's been asking me A LOT lately how EXACTLY she got in my belly? I have tried everything but the truth and it just doesn't satisfy her little mind. So tonight when she asked me AGAIN, I asked her what she thought and this was her reply:)

Wellllll......maybe Jesus sneaked in our house when it was really dark outside and pip-toed upstairs. And maybe he went in your room while you were sleeping and put something on top of your head, then you got it and ate it . Then your belly growed and growed and growed really big (she got that part right) and then I finally came out. But MOM, why was I girl? I wanted to be a boy so I could eat like a puppy and have short hair and stuff. {deep breath} Oh well, it's okay, sometimes that happens!

If there are two things Sassy loves to do, it's SLEEPOVERS and BORROWING things. So we borrowed the Wild Whitt's boys and had ourselves a sleepover. They had a blast and I even got kisses from the Jaybird who doesn't freely give them out:)

New Years Resolution

I can't believe I'm admitting my New Year Resolution to anyone, let alone publishing it on my blog but wth? Drum roll please.......

GOAL: Take Kendra to church {clapping & muffled giggling}

Now check this out. First Sunday rolls around. I'm laying in bed thinking, I REALLY don't wanna go....Nick was working, I'm really worn out from the holiday's & work.....then I get a text inviting us to go with some friends. I think, "fine whatever" so we get ready. Church at 11am and we are ready and early. We get out of the car, holding Kendra's hand, jump over a snow bank and I hear "RRRRIP"....the entire back of my skirt completely split up the back. With my ass exposed to the world & trying to hold it together, I find my keys and get K back in the car. We drive back to the house, change my skirt and go back to church. Did I mention my stipulations of going to church? Well let me tell ya! NO SPEAKING IN CHURCH, NO CHURCH CALLING & NO TEMPLE PREP CLASS. Well turns out that my dear old friends Rog & Jen attend the temple prep class so what's a girl to do? I wasn't going by my lonesome to another class:( So there ya have it....my first week at church.

With that being said, Kendra LOVED it. I took her to Primary (first time ever) and sat her down on the front row. I told her how much fun she was going to have and introduced her to the teacher. She said "I'm gonna miss you mom, give me a hug" and with that she stayed the whole time....no tears and still HAPPY as could be when I picked her up! When I asked her what she learned she said "something cool" so I asked her what that something cool was about and she said "a King that was really mean and tried to steal baby Jesus but don't worry, he didn't find him." Phew!

Christmas 2010

Please excuse the random order but something has changed on blogger and I'm too lazy to try and figure it out.

Christmas was so much fun this year. Kendra had an elf visit her all through December, whom she named JACK, so she was "mostly" on her best behavior. One day Jack was hanging out on the ceiling fan and Kendra was so good and she didn't even try to turn it on....then Grandma came to visit. Grandma took one look and couldn't resist trying out the old "cause & effect" theory. Jack went flying and Kendra started shrieking! Kendra ran over to get a better look at Jack and then scolded Grandma....NEVER TOUCH JACK, HIS MAGIC WILL COME OFF!! We picked him up with a hand towel and placed him in a safe spot, free of any hazards (and grandma).

Half Truth: They threw things at each other & even broke the possessions of another sister when they felt revenge was warranted. Rachel wouldn't let me hang my backpack on her bunk bed post so I took her musical ceramic clown (that she made) off my dresser and "carefully" as I could, in my altered state of mind, sat it down on the floor. It was not my fault that it broke but that we had industrial carpet with no pad in our bedroom, just sayin'.

So during the Thanksgiving holiday Kendra was pretty rotten. She wouldn't listen, threw some fits and was just difficult. One of the nights she wouldn't go to sleep so Nick finally got after her and said something like, "Kendra, I've had enough....get in that bed before you get a spankin" She yelled back "Daddy! Jesus does NOT love you"

The very next day she wouldn't help us clean up toys so Nick told her he was going to throw them all in the trash. Kendra took a deep breath, rolled her eyes and said "good hell" oops, wonder where she learned that?

Never a dull moment with this one:)

Happy 3rd Birthday Kendra!

My baby girl turned 3 today! I wasn't about to miss a minute of it so this morning @ 6am when I got off work, I drove straight to Milford. I filmed her waking up and she was so happy to know that it was finally her birthday. We had breakfast and then she got to open one of her presents....a Strawberry Shortcake remote control car. Of course she LOVED it and has played with it ever since. Around 1pm, the "no sleep" thing was getting to me, so we headed home. We took a good nap and then cousin Rhett came to play. Kendra picked the "popcorn place" (Wingers) for dinner and now we're finishing up a few last details for the PARTY tomorrow.

Look at her! All the sudden she's so big and never stops talking. Here are the latest and greatest things we love about our 3 year old baby girl:

Went to Sherwin Williams today and Kendra went outside to play in the rocks. When we left she started to cry a little bit and this is how our conversation went:

Me: What's wrong?
K: I'm gonna miss those rocks mom.
Me: They'll be okay honey.
K: Do they have to stay with their family?
Me: Yep!
* she starts to cry harder * LOL
K: What if someone steps on them?
Me: It won't hurt cuz rocks are really tough.
K: But who will hug and kiss them goodnight?
Me: The mama rocks, silly.
K: Oh
Me: So see.....the rocks will be fine:)
K: Okay, but I sure do love them rocks mom!

4th of July 2010

We had an awesome 4th of July weekend. Grandma & Kendra did some swimming then later that night headed to town (Milford) for some fireworks in "Papa Sweets" back yard.

K sat on her Papa's lap the entire time while they discussed their favorite colors. She snuggled and kissed his arms the entire time and it was too dang cute!

Nick & Lynette were dorks (as usual) and I'm pretty sure that Nick's expression is due to the brushing of Lynette's boob on his arm:)

The next day we watched the parade in Cedar. We were an hour late but so was the parade. Kendra wanted to know where the birthday hats and cake were. I think she has a different idea about parades. Anyway, we got us some candy and then headed home for a nap.

The next night we did some SPARKLERS which are my favorite. Just when we were about done, it started to rain so we grabbed an umbrella and played in it for a bit. It was a perfect end for our awesome holiday!

....Kendra of course! She is saying the funniest stuff lately so I thought I would share.

Yesterday we went to St. George & as we drove into the Costco parking lot she screams, "St. George, I love St. George" so I said "me too". She shot back saying "no you not wuv St. George, you wuv the man in the yellow hat." I was so confused but finally got to the bottom of it when she said, "the monkeys daddy with the yellow hat".......Curious George/St.George....duh!

Nick took her to Maverick the other day to get a treat. She picked out some hostess donuts (good taste like her mother) & paid for them. On the way out Nick noticed the donuts were MIA so he asked Kendra where they went. She said "donuts are in my bum." At the same time a man had stopped to hold the door open for them. Nick, a little confused & embarrassed , asked her one more time. This time Kendra takes quick little baby steps.....AWKWARDLY shuffles through the door.... then says one more time for everyone to hear "Donuts in my bum, Daddy" Apparently Nick was unaware that sundresses are good for hiding things. I think the good Samaritan holding the door was rewarded with a good chuckle!

She's a dreamer, passionate, loving, obsessive, hard to handle & silly. She thinks her hair is pink and just realized that her eyes are, in fact, blue. She blesses our dinner and Cookie Monster in the same prayer & never stops singing! She is beautiful, inside and out. She is the queen of my soul.

This was Nick's FIRST time EVER on ice skates & he was dang good:)

EASTER was so much fun this year with Kendra. She loved coloring eggs and looking for them too. She was so excited for the WEASTER BUNNY to bring her treats, especially loved her new Barbie & looked adorable in the little dress I made for her. We had a very Happy Easter & hope all of you did too!

At the Wild Whitt's house. Jase woke us up. Kendra's a bear if she doesn't wake up on her own. We drag her out of bed anyway. She see's her stuff. She goes straight for the stocking, gets her m&m's & has some breakfast....Kendra style! Opened some presents. K LOVED this part. Wrapping papers a-flyin'. Kids are squeeling. Mom's and Dad's are yawning. Cleaned up the mess. Bathtime. Picture time. That's when I realized that Kendra needed a nap & yikes did she need a nap.

It was a blur but they say time flies when you're having fun.

Warning: You may not want to read this because it's pretty much just a rant session by ME. I might say things that seem a bit negative & will probably use a lot of parenthesis. Just letting you know.

Today we went to McDonalds. A really fancy McDonalds (Lehi) with a playground that makes music when you play on the toys (not important but cool). The entire time, not one freakin' parent was paying attention to their kids. In less than five minutes of being there, I watched a kid poor his juice box down the baby slide, another one grabbing the little kids from behind and pulling them down, hitting, pushing, screaming, budging, stomping on fingers, tripping & the list goes on. Not ONE kid stopped to apologize (seriously) & not ONE parent stepped in to correct their horrible behavior (seriouslyyyy).

I was HORRIFIED & not to mention EMBARRASSED.

They had 2 areas. One for everybody & one for 3yrs old & under. There's a sign stating the age rule but there were 6 boys (at least 10 years old) playing in there, jumping over babies, accidentally kicking & stepping on them & once again.....not one apology or one parent intervened. I know it's not some congress-passed law that 3 and under should play there but what are we teaching our kids? That it's okay to follow the rules sometimes, or my personal favorite "well everyone else's kids are doing it"........grrrrr.

WAKE UP!

We are raising self-entitled, helpless, indulged, spoiled brats! We're failing our kids. I probably sound like a raving lunatic but I'm okay with that. I have one major goal in life & that is to raise kids that are loving, happy & compassionate to those less fortunate. I'm sure most people want that too but it won't happen if we just let things go, ignore it or keep saying YES. I mean heaven forbid that our kids feel disappointed, mad, embarrassed, sad or jealous.....sounds like LIFE to me, it ain't no fantasy (love that song BTW). Nobody is perfect (except me) but just make an effort, it's not that hard. Pull your head out, call your kids on their $hit & do the RIGHT thing.

The only thing I regret about this post is that it won't reach the people that need to hear it the most. So if you know a stupid parent (we all do) mention my blog in passing or better yet, hand them a business card with my blog address on it & a direct link to this post. Oh, the hate mail I would get, better fix my comments setting {cackle cackle}.

Yes, this is another story about Kendra. She seems to consume my life thus consuming my blog.

Anywho - today after her nap of like 20 minutes {growl} she comes trotting down the stairs. I said "HELLO KENDRA" & she casually replied "NI HAO" which translates to HELLO in mandarine chinese. Thanks to Kai-Lan we (me & miss) frequently discuss her feelings & the feelings of others too.

Uncle Russell & Aunt Steph gave Kendra this butterfly dress up for her birthday. That same night, around ten o'clock, we let her try it on. As we admired our beautiful little butterfly, she clunked around in her fancy high heels, showing off to anyone who would watch. She kept checking out her wings and telling us "I FLY", which we thought was even cuter but she wasn't kidding. She ran to the door & begged us to let er go outside so she could fly. As she walked out the front door, she continued to watch her wings but nothing was happening. It was like we were watching Curious George. Just as she was about to give up, Grandma came to the rescue. She flew K all around the yard until they were both dizzy. Kendra wanted "MORE, MORE" & she knew exactly what to do. She ran back into the house & called for PAPA. Of course he came running & out they went, PRINCESS MARLE & her KNIGHT IN SHINING.....ummm.....CAMO?? Kendra is 2, can you believe it? We celebrated ELMO style with family & friends. The gourmet menu included mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets & pizza. We played a game of ring-a-round the rosie, did a bit of fishing & finished with a piniata. She opened her presents & got oodles of toys. We ended the party with an ELMO cake made by Aunt Nettie (send me some pics sis) & some extra playtime with the cousins. If Kendra could talk, she would probably say, "this was the best day of my life."

While Nick was in Casper Wyoming, K & me stayed in Milford. We haden't seen him for a month or more so I planned a surpise weekend to Panguitch Lake, one of our favorite places to go. To make a complicated story short, we knew these awesome people I called Grandma & Grandpa but weren't really blood relation. They've both passed away now but their children are so sweet & generous to let us stay at their family cabin still. As a little girl we spent almost every summer there for at least a week or so & then when I married Nick we had our honeymoon there (well not officially but that's a whole different post). Anyway, our 7th year anniversary was coming up so, like I said, I planned a weekend for us. I packed all our fishing stuff, planned out a menu & rented a pontoon boat. It seemed perfect......but then we ran out of firewood in the middle of the night, our pontoon boat was a piece of crap, rain & wind ruined our fishing day & Kendra cried for an hour cuz she wanted to go swimming & even tried to jump off the boat. It didn't turn out perfect like I had planned but we still had fun.

This last Friday, Nick had a stomach ache that turned out to be appendicitis. He got to the ER around 3am, got his first pain killer at 8am, and finally went into surgery at 12:30pm. During surgery, his general forman called his cell phone & left a message explaining that he was laid off (no kidding). Then the night he got home, Kendra got the flu.....bad! He helped me as much as he could & I made sure we washed hands & sanitized everything we could. Well, it didn't work and Nick got it the next day. I can't imagine how awful it felt to puke his guts out with a new incision but he didn't complain once. I was feeling left out (hey I like attention) so I came down with it about 45 minutes after Nick. We recovered for a day & then packed our crap & got the hell out of dodge. Now we're headed down south for some family time & excited for a little vacation.

Motherhood

I consider myself a pretty good mom. Since the day Kendra was born, I found motherhood to be easy. I loved getting up at night. I loved nursing her. I loved changing her. Things that some mom's might find frustrating or difficult, I found to be simple. Things were easy, she was easy. Now she's not! I've been a crappy mom lately. I've been so focused on all the negative things that it's trully consumed my whole attitude. I've been really worried about what "everyone" thinks about me as a mom. The other day I started a fight with Nick in the car & when I looked back at Kendra she was staring out the window & sucking her thumb. Kendra DOES NOT suck her thumb. It broke my heart. My sweet girl was nervous & confused because of me. Not the proudest moment in my life but a lesson that I definitely needed. The next day I tried harder, and the next day and the next day. It's only been a few days and Kendra is a new little person. Tonight when I put her to bed she wouldn't stop playings so I turned my back to her. I heard her say "Mama, Back?" and a few seconds later her tiny fingers were tickling my back.......
....i needed that.

I heard the bathroom door shut & wondered what she was up to now. When I opened the door this is what I found & she said "pitty toes". She was giving herself a pedicure just like mama does. Too cute considering that I really do sit on the toilet while she bathes & give myself a pedicure.

Then like any kodak moment, she stops what she's doing to admire her handy work & then continues on about her business.

We got home yesterday & realized there is NO more room in our humble abode so I made an executive decision to put away the pack-n-play. Kendra has slept in that thing since she was born & I wasn't sure if she would go for it BUT she did it. Nap time was trickier today & I had to put her back in it about four times but she finally went to sleep..............HOORAY!! Hopefully this isn't beginners luck & she'll stick with it.

Now for the potty training! All you experienced potty training people I need your best advice. So far, Kendra loves to talk about the potty. She loves to take her diaper off, use her stool to climb up on the potty and sit there for a few seconds. She would do this a hundred times if I let her BUT she will not pee. I don't want her to hate it so I don't push it but I really think she could do it if I could get her to actually pee & realize what she's doing. Comments please?

Snowbird 2009

Every year the Schofield family goes to Snowbird for their vacation. The past two years we haven't been able to make it due to bed rest in '07 & being too far away in '08. Finally this year we reserved us a room. We've been looking forward to it all year but then Nick switched jobs a few weeks ago & couldn't get the time off {sniffle}. Kendra & I have still had a lot of fun up here, even if she is a turd.

[I just googled turd to make sure I spelled it right & found some pretty funny stuff]

Anyway, we've went swimming 4 days in a row now & Kendra is LOVING it! We also did the bounce houses which K decided it was way more fun to lay there and be bounced than to bounce herself. So she spent the entire time on her back, kicking her legs & squeeling - that's what he said.....lol. I almost erased that last part but left it in for you Nat. She's my dirty minded friend that says that joke a lot. Little'ole innocent me would never think up such things.....hee hee!

The Terrible 22 Months

I've had a rough day and need to vent so here goes. She, and you all know who I'm talking about, is a MONSTER. I feel like all day has been a constant battle with no winner. First thing in the morning I say "good morning baby" and she says "I wanna cookie". I make eggs, she cries for "cereallllllll". I give her milk, she wants "jew". One thing we agree on is swimming, she loves it, would live at the pool if she could, so we go "simming". She never wants to leave so first tantrum of the day almost results in drowning. Bath time is a chore as she likes to wrap her legs around my neck when I lean her back to wash her hair. Then it's time to get dressed, oops I mean a wrestling match. One point goes to Mama, only because I'm physically stronger. She brushes her teeth while I do her hair, which she pulls out about 5 seconds later (see picture). Usually this is when she wants a movie and then demands "MORE, MORE, MORE". Now for lunch....what should I make? Doesn't matter cuz she ain't gonna eat it. Finally it's nap time but wait.....she needs her silky, her baby & her bunny.

This is when I regain my composure & get ready for round two. The rest of the day goes pretty much like the first half. As if it's all not frustrating enough, I get to show off my great parenting skills to an audience most of time because I'm a freakin' gypsy. AND yes, I'm totally feeling sorry for myself right now but at least I know it.

I know it hasn't been that long ago since she actually did these things but it still makes me laugh. Grandma D started this new obsession where they pretend Kendra can't walk or talk. She wraps her up in a blankie while Kendra pretends to cry, then Grandma hushes her with a lullaby. K's fave is when Grandma helps her walk & says things like "big girl & so big". Kendra LOVES it. Daddy hadn't heard of this game but when we got settled in the trailer, Kendra showed him how to play & now he's a pro. He taught her how to say "goo goo, ga ga" & pinches her cheeks and says "coochie coochie coo". Once again, Kendra goes bananas & thinks it's hillarious. What did we ever do without her?

That's right, I'm a lame-O Blogster & I won't bore you with the many excuses that I REALLY do have. Anyway - just a little update on the Schofieldians. We've moved again, this time to Rock Springs Wyoming. We have no idea how long we'll be here or where we'll head to next but seriously - what's new? We've done tons of fun stuff this summer but unfortunately I left my pictures back at the homestead in M town. Sooooo, I promise to post some most awesome pictures soon. Laters!

Just a little Poop!

I stayed up sewing last night with my mom until 1:30 am. Usually when I'm super tired, Kendra wakes up super early. This morning was no exception! We had some breakfast, watched Winnie the Pooh, changed a poopy diaper & gave K a bath. The little red-head in charge decided it was time for "OUTSIDE" so she grabbed her Elmo slippers and out we went. That's when I noticed the dog poop so I grabbed a shovel & began my hunt.

I made my way around the house with SUCCESS times four. That's when I let the 3-legged dog out. With 2 dogs, a cat & Kendra at my side we headed back around the house. Still on the look out for poop, I glanced down at a dark spot in the grass. It was a brand new baby bird. It got washed out of the rain gutter last night in the storm. I scooped it up & ran inside to show my mom (like I'm 5 years old). Now don't get me wrong, she's a compassionate person but not so much towards animals.....of any kind. She looked at me like I was crazy & then said "I am NOT holding that". But I needed a picture so I finally talked her into it. Grandma helped K hold it too, she was big stuff. Then just as we were done taking pictures & just as mama D was about to hand it off...........yep, you guessed it...........it POOPED! {classic}

Let me take a minute here so I can LMAO............aaahhhhaaaaa! Mom was gagging & I was laughing hysterical!

I finally got the bird back into the nest with it's 3 brothers/sisters. My sweet mother says it will probably just die but I like to think it was divine intervention that I saved a life today. I'll keep you all posted but right now duty calls........just kidding! I know, I know Mr. Nicholas - girls don't POOP!!

Most of you know that Kendra is little bit obsessed over ELMO. Somehow we ended up with some slippers (thanks Steph) & Kendra thinks they're everyday shoes. I took them off before our trip to the mall & she had a complete tantrum. Nick ran up the stairs asking what I did to her & when I explained the situation he fixed everything. Like he always says, "it's not that big of deal" hence, SHE WON! She made quite the spectacle out of us but I got some shopping done which is always great.

We got to stay the week with Melissa & her girls in Price & had a blast. Kendra is lucky to have so many cousins close to the the same age. She's still talking about Neenee & Babies (Brylen). Memorial Weekend Camping Trip

Friday 22nd - Pulled the trailer out to the mountains. Got in huge fight with hubby over stabilizer jacks.

Saturday 23rd - Played in the Alumni Volleyball tournament all day, SO SORE, drove out to camp, water pump not working, filter & kitchen faucet froze & cracked, fixed it (kinda), up all night with K, fever & no motrin, went back to Milford around midnight.

Sunday 24th - Drove out again! Played in the dirt, built a fort, ate a lot of junk, up all night with K, AGAIN!!

Monday 25th - Woke up sick, layed in the truck while Nick pretty much did everything, got home, took a shower, took a nap, ate some more junk, went to bed.

Tuesday 26th - Reflected on our camping trip, realized how much work it is, appreciated my mom & dad for taking us when we were little, not going camping for awhile, i'm over it!!

The Dinosaur Museum

Last month we took the kids to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. Kendra liked it, mostly because she got to run wild with her cousins. Jaxon showed her the ropes & led her around pointing at all of the exhibits. They're quite the pair when they actually like each other.

What happened you ask? I was at the gym doing some circuit training with my BFF Shelby. All was well until I finished pumping some iron, jumped up, tried to clear a bar & obviously missed.....ouch!! Hi Aunt Lissa, thanks for the cute outfit. When my mom put it on me at first she got the giggles and said I looked like a dork but then she gave me a handful of m&m's and did my hair. I think she changed her mind about the outfit once she put the headband on cuz she ran downstairs and grabbed the camera. We went outside and had a photoshoot but she wouldn't let me wear shoes.....something to do with making Papa Holm crazy. Anywho, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood (I got that from Sesame Street) and I think we're going to sluff church, yet again, and grab a diet coke. I'm not complaining or anything, I just really like nursery, well mostly just snack time. Love ya forever!!

Stupid Cough

Yes, it's 2:13 am and I'm blogging. I've googled eveything on a dry hacking cough that I could find and feel quite educated on the subject. My diagnosis: a non-productive cough caused by a previous common cold. Apparently there is no cure, just home remedies that I've tried already. I'm exhausted & everytime I manage to fall back asleep she starts the coughing again and can't get it under control.

I've been frustrated with her today. She dumped a package of saltine crackers on the floor and then "accidently" stepped on every single one of them. She was whiney because she missed her nap (stupid cough) and wanted to be held all day. I was annoyed!

Then I logged onto my sister Melissa's blog & there it was - my gentle reminder of how precious our babies are. For a breif moment there I had forgotton how sad I was when we couldn't seem to get pregnant. The prayers & the tears because she was missing from our lives. I would have done anything to get her here. I can't forget that. I think it's what I needed to be her mom, to learn patience and really appreciate the time I get with her. So glad I came to my senses.

It's now 3:05 am. Sleep is way overrated!

Hope everyone had a fabulous Easter weekend. We sure did! Nick had the entire weekend off (first one in 2 months) so we headed up to his sister Josi's house in Willard for some quality family time. We soaked in the pools at Crystal Hot Springs, colored eggs, played some games & just had fun visiting with family. Kendra looked adorable in her new Easter dress (thank you Grandma D & the mean Grandpa) and gave me her best "smile" even though she ran a fever most of the day.
Cousin Rhett looked way too CUTE in his little suit so I snapped some pictures of him too. Is there anything cuter than a little boy in a suit? i LOVE it!!

I should have known better. She IS the same child that just refused to breastfeed at 10 months & then decided she was too big for a bottle at 11 months. She is very hard-headed & independent (wonder where she gets that from). I guess I LOVED the bink more than she did, go figure! Anyway all is well at the Schofield house. No sleepless nights, no skipped naps, just another day in paradise - minus the BINKI.

Tonight after dinner I popped in the JUNGLE BOOK for the kids. Tay looked over at me & says "don't ya think we need some popcorn?" I mean who can watch a movie without popcorn people?? Not these kids, they're popcorn maniacs. They went through 2 bags in like 5 minutes flat. The babies were practically swimming in it & I've been finding popcorn in every nook & cranny of this house since then. Anyway - the mess was totally worth 5 minutes of silence so I really can't complain. HAPPY POPPING!

On Wednesday, we (me, K, mom, dad, whitts & Steph/Russ Fam) went to the mountains for a picnic. It was a perfect day for a campfire cooked dinner, 4-wheeling, & a jeep ride. Kendra LOVED the wide open space to run. She wasn't so fond of touching the dirt but apparently didn't mind the taste of it.
These pictures turned out SWEET, if I do say so myself. It reminds me how much I LOVE photography, especially when you have such a cute subject!

We have a basket by the front door. It's Nick's basket so he doesn't unload all his junk onto my already limited counter space. Yesterday I noticed it was getting out of control so I started to clean it out & this is what I found....................

......and that's not the half of it. I find it in our bathroom, our vehicles, his dirty work pants and in our bedroom. So if you're in the market for some electrical tape, look no further!

At least there's one person in our household that doesn't mind our oversized collection of tape. She finds it to be quite entertaining & if it keeps her busy for a few minutes, I really can't complain.

We still had a great time hanging out with the Whittakers & Whites. Kendra LOVED Jaybird & TOLERATED Roni, I mean they don't call them the WILD WHITTS for no reason. Uncle Dustin & Aunt Lynette spoiled her rotten - new shoes, clothes, jacket & snow suit to name a few. They definitely need a GIRL.

Thanksgiving in......JANUARY

ahhhhh.......finally some time to sit down and blog. I'm a little behind in the blogging world these days so I'll make this short and sweet. Thanksgiving this year was held in Willard Utah with the Schofield clan (aka: the pie people). We split the trip into 2 days (5 hours driving each day) and arrived the day before Turkey Day. Kendra spent most of her time going up and down the stairs until she found a step latter which proved to be WAY more entertaining than the previous. We played games, baked, talked & then ate until we were sick. It went by way too fast but we really had a lot of fun!

During the BIG dinner Kendra used her HUNTING & GATHERING skills to find food for survival. Okay she mostly sniffed out the people with pie but she IS a Schofield!!

I cannot express in words how greatful I was for the wonderful gifts. I have to apologize for being so snappy when you awoke me from my slumber, for a minute there I thought it was my silly sister but when I realized it was you I was the one feeling silly. As we opened gift after gift I had to keep my head down. A lump in my throat was causing my eyes to water (I'm not sure what was going on) and my legs wanted to run me straight to the bathroom to cry like a little baby but I held it together. Thank goodness for my self control because I would have hated for you & your little helpers to see me like that. Anyway, please thank everyone at the North Pole. This is one Christmas we will never forget thanks to you!!

Home Sweet Home

I am so EXCITED to be home! We had Thanksgiving with the Schofields this year & my sister in law Josi was an awesome host (as always). I was going to send a thank you in the mail but since she's a blogger I'll just do it here - THANK YOU, THANK YOU ,THANK YOU!! We really had an awesome time and you always make us feel SO welcome. I took tons of pictures but sent the laptop back with Nick so I'll have to post them later. Anyway, Nick flew back to CO on Monday and I headed to Milfy. It's always a whirlwind around here with places to go & people to see so time flies by TOO fast. I went with my mom and Aunt Mary Jo (aka...Jillian) to work out and left Kendra with grandpa. On our way home, I called to check on them and Grandpa was changing a POOPY diaper.....way to go Dad! When we pulled into the driveway, there they were, all bundled up and on the riding lawn mower. She was grinning from ear to ear. What a fun babysitter!
We drove over to CC so I could sub for bunco and it was a blast. We had it at "Hotel Whittaker" and Lynette practically put on a BUFFET. It was D-LISH! Everyone won a prize, even ME, I won towels (are you excited Nick?). I miss my old bunco pals {tear}. We've stayed here for a few nights and Kendra has about 6 bruises on her face and head now. She's fell of the couch, into the granite fireplace and had a ceramic snowman fall on her head. I guess I should have brought a helmet. Now we're headed to town for the StoryBook Parade and to see Santa Clause. Gotta run!

The other day while I was cleaning (must have been really into it) this is what I came across, all except Kendra who was sitting on the floor admiring her handiwork- SCARY! She was having herself a good old time and even handling them all by their handles. What a good girl I have. Take a breath Grandma's, she's still alive!
We also have to give a big shout out to Aunt Melissa for this adorable turkey bow. It's our favorite and instead of matching the bows to her outfits like usual, we find ourselves trying to find things that will match this one. I LOVE BOWS, as if all of you didn't know this already. One day I'll post a picture of our collection, it's quite impressive!

We went to the mall today so I could get a haircut & while we were there some girls from Kiddie Kandids asked us if they could practice doing pictures with Kendra. My answer was - uh, yeah - so Nick went with her while I got my haircut. The girl was new but they still turned out pretty cute except for one which I didn't include because they made my little super model look like a nerd. Anyway, we got a free picture out of it so lucky us right?

Well my day only got better when I seen the finished product of my new A-Line haircut. I like it. I mean, I always like getting a haircut but this time I "really" liked it so yay for me! A lucky day 'ey?

BYU VS. AIRFORCE

Just got back from the football game & it was so much fun. They opened the show with an airplane & 6 six guys that parachute into the stadium as they announce them one by one. About five minutes later 3 - F15's flew over us & that alone was worth the price of admission.

Of course I painted Kendra's face and as you can tell, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I had big plans for that BYU logo and found out the hard way that 1 year olds can't hold still. She still looked cute, even the airforce fans got a kick out of it.

The stadium was packed and when Airforce scored, the cadets would run out to the field and do a push up for every point. At half time they let a falcon fly around the stadium & do some tricks. The academy sure knows how to put on a show.

Kendra was mostly naughty & wanted to get down but the bleachers were wet from yesterday's snow storm. That red-headed temper definitely shined through today, I tell ya what! She finally fell asleep after half time & I'm pretty sure I heard angels singing HALLELUJAH.

I can't forget about the cheerleaders because they're mostly what I watch anyway. Nick & Mitch didn't mind watching them either which I'm sure was strictly due to the squads SKILLS. Anyway, BYU won the game. Falcons 24 Cougars 38. Way to go BYU!!

What we've been up to

This week Kendra started swim lessons. It's the cutest little class where they do little songs & nursery rhymes with actions for the water. Then we practice kicking & splashing & going under water. I was a little worried about the "going under" part but no reaction is good right? She just comes up, wipes her eyes & is ready for the next game. SHE LOVES IT. They also give them all a squirt toy to carry around. She picks the same one every time....a yellow penguin.....and if she can't hold it in her hands she carries it around in her mouth. Do you think she picked that up from the dog? They do spend a lot of time together.In NICK NEWS lately, he continues to have a severe case of buck fever. He often calls me on his way home from work and tell me about the deer he's seen. This is one of his latest finds, if you can see. The one in the middle is pretty big.

This last picture is K & her daddy watching THE WONDER PETS . Everytime the opening song comes on, Kendra starts to hyperventilate so we're pretty sure it's her favorite. Anyho0 - there's nothing cuter than these 2 having a little cuddle time. It melts me!

Here's my latest creation - A TUTU! Isn't it cute? Kendra didn't think so, in fact she hated it. I think it was the scratchy material, she's a silky girl. Next time I'm feeling crafty, maybe I'll reach for something in the satin aisle. Oh & picture #2 has nothing to do with this post, just a fun picture of our little miss.

Make a Smilebox scrapbook

We had a great Halloween even though we didn't do the usual trick or treating. Instead we had a going away dinner for our friend Jordan at the Sunbird Resturaunt (which was awesome). He's going back home to Iowa tomorrow & we're sure gonna miss him. In the spirit of Halloween I dressed Kendra up anyway & took some pictures for her scrapbook. These guys are always a hoot. I never did blog about poker night last week. We had it here on our patio & when Nick ran out of chips he came in the trailer & I went out. Frank loaned me some of his chips & I won back $6 for Nick. Better than nothing right? Anyway, dinner was fun & it turned out to be a great night! Hope your Halloween was spooktacular!

Today was just a normal day. I woke up to Kendra's babbling. I layed in bed listening for a good 20 minutes before going to get her. When I opened her door she greeted me with her usual "Hi" and then proceeded to play our morning ritual game, Peek-a-Boo, where she squats down in her pack'n'play and presses her tiny hand against the mesh for me to kiss. It's after I've done this that she jumps up to finish the game. She does this over and over until her little heart is content. Finally, she reaches up for me to signal that it's time to pick her up for some loves and binky-breath kisses. I'm smitten!

She's such a happy girl, that Kendra. So happy that even I cannot stay sad for a second. She's contagious! When we go to the store, for a walk, out to eat, we get stopped because of her. I couldn't count all the old ladies that have grabbed her cheeks without warning and laid one on her. It's that red hair and pagent wave I guess.

I've had a rough week, maybe not rough but a little lonely. I could go into detail but it doesn't matter. What does matter is that I'm here with my little family. I married the best guy in the world. I have a healthy happy baby. I've met some awesome people here & overall my life is great. I'm not trying to convince myself but I am trying to remind myself of all the good things in my my life. So when I get homesick or tear up after talking with Lynette (yes, I miss you) I have to remember the most important things in life and wishing we were back home is not on that list. Wanna know what's near the top of my list? Binky-Breath kisses of course!

Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races

Emma Crawford lived in Manitou Springs at the turn of the century, arriving with the hopes that the famous drinking Mineral Springs would help with a cure for her tuberculosis. Sadly, in the summer of 1890 Emma died quite young, just before she was to marry Mr. Hildebrand, an engineer on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Her wishes were to be laid to rest on top of Red Mountain. Her heartbroken fiancee and eleven other men began the arduous task her carrying Emma's coffin up to the top of Red Mountain. It took them all day, working two shifts to scale the 7200 foot Summit. After years of stormy weather on the granite mountain the granite gave way and Emma's remains were washed down the side of Red Mountain. Emma was later buried in the Manitou Springs Cemetery in an unmarked grave. An official grave site was granted to her in 2004 to honor her life. Now every year in late October, Manitou Springs remembers this beautiful young woman who loved her town and her Red Mountain with this unique festival.

Little did we know that this was a HUGE event! Take a look at the crowd in this picture, there were thousands of people. I waited all week for this and then we couldn't even see that well. Then Kendra wasn't even interested in the costumes or the parade, all she cared about was feeding some stupid dogs her cheeseburger.
Anyway - It was still pretty fun to watch plus we got one more use out of Kendra's costume. I love Halloween!!

The Great Pumpkin Patch

We did the petting zoo first and Kendra loved the goats. She got a little excited and the petting escalated into hitting. I guess the goats didn't appreciate it so they ran away.
Then we headed down the hill for an old fashioned tractor ride. The line was forever long so Nick let Kendra roll around in the hay (literally). She especially loved this and threw a fit when we tried to pick her up.

We finally got our ride and Kendra squeeled and clapped the entire way. The bumpier the ride got, the louder Kendra got. It was too cute!

And at last we found our perfect pumpkins. Kendra wasn't too picky, just whatever she could get her little hands on.
When it was time to go, Kendra obviously was not ready. She started crying when she saw the truck. It was so sad!
